Inspection marketplace: buyer and inspector apps
A used-car inspection marketplace we took over after Builder.ai went insolvent in 2025: frontend rewritten from scratch, backend kept and extended, split payouts through Stripe Connect.
The problem
Builder.ai built the first version and went insolvent in 2025. We inherited the design and part of the code.
The backend was worth keeping and the app was not ready to ship. The business needed a production app without starting from zero.
What we built
- 01
A new app, written from scratch
A new Flutter app for both sides: buyers book an inspection, inspectors run it and file a structured report. Card payments, push, biometric sign-in, maps, photo and video capture.

The backend kept and extended
We stayed on the inherited Rails backend and added AI, GDPR, geo-IP, translation and ops notifications. Contract tests pin every response the app relies on.

Money flow and AI in the report
Split payouts to inspectors through Stripe Connect, wallet and bonus credits, voice-to-form filling and AI damage extraction inside the inspection report.
What runs now
We ship App Store and Google Play releases from CI and run the backend.
Server-side switches — minimum version, forced update, maintenance mode — steer installed apps without a release.
